Compare two JSON values locally and see what changed at each path. Paste an expected response and an actual response to find changed values, missing keys or array entries, and extra keys or entries. This is useful for reviewing structured output from an AI coding or writing task; it does not judge whether the response is correct for your task.
Compare JSON responses
Object key order and whitespace do not affect the result. Array entries are compared by position, so a reordered array appears as changed entries.

How does the comparator report changes?
It parses both inputs as JSON, then compares values recursively. For objects, it matches keys regardless of key order and reports keys present on only one side. For arrays, it compares items at the same numeric index and reports extra trailing items. For primitive values and null, it reports a changed value when the JSON types or values differ. Paths use dot notation for ordinary keys and bracket notation for array positions or keys that need quoting.
This is a structural comparison, not a JSON Schema validator or a semantic review. It will not decide whether a generated answer follows instructions, whether a changed value is acceptable, or whether two differently ordered arrays mean the same thing. Review each reported path in its task context.
What does this tool do with pasted data?
The page uses the browser's built-in JSON parser and performs the comparison in the page. It has no upload, model call, storage, or external data request. Do not treat this as a guarantee about browser extensions or other software on your device.
Frequently asked questions
Does object key order count as a difference?
No. JSON objects are compared by their keys, so the order in which those keys appear in the text does not create a difference.
How are arrays compared?
Arrays are compared by index. If an item moves, the positions where values differ are shown; this tool does not infer that a reordered array is equivalent.
Does a clean comparison prove an AI response is correct?
No. It only means the two parsed JSON values match. Whether the expected value is correct or complete remains for you to determine.
What demand evidence supports building this utility?
A Semrush report observed estimated visits to JSONFormatter.org, a related JSON developer utility. That competitor estimate supports broad interest in JSON tools; it is not search volume, traffic to this site, or evidence of demand for this exact comparator.

Methodology and limitations
The comparator parses two user-supplied JSON values with the browser's built-in JSON parser and recursively compares object keys, array positions, and primitive values. It ignores object key order and whitespace. It does not validate JSON Schema, assess semantic correctness, call an AI model, or send input to an external service. Semrush reported 2.55M estimated visits to JSONFormatter.org for June 2026; this is competitor traffic evidence for the broad JSON utility category, not search volume, this site's analytics, or demand for this exact comparator.
