Convert pasted CSV into a JSON array of objects in your browser. The first record supplies the property names. Quoted commas, escaped quotes, and line breaks inside quoted cells are supported. Every cell stays a string; the tool does not upload your input.

Convert CSV to JSON

The first row is the header. Blank rows are skipped. Headers must be non-empty and unique; each data row must have the same number of fields.

Choose Convert to parse the current text.

How does the converter read CSV?

The first row becomes object keys, and later rows become objects in a JSON array. Use double quotes around a field that contains the selected separator, a quote, or a line break. Write a literal quote inside a quoted field as two double quotes. The separator can be a comma or a tab.

Each output value remains text, including values such as 42 and true. This avoids guessing whether a cell should become a number, boolean, date, or identifier. The converter rejects empty or repeated header names and data rows with a different field count instead of silently dropping or overwriting values.

Does this upload or save the input?

No. Parsing and conversion happen in the current browser page. The tool makes no request containing the pasted CSV and does not save it in browser storage. Avoid pasting credentials or personal data into any website form.

Frequently asked questions

Are numbers converted into JSON numbers?

No. Every cell is emitted as a JSON string so that identifiers, leading zeroes, and text values are preserved. Convert types later using rules that fit your data.

What happens when a row has fewer or more fields than the header?

The converter reports an error and does not produce partial JSON. Check the separator and quote escaping, then correct the row before converting again.

Can a quoted CSV field contain a line break?

Yes. Line breaks inside a quoted field are kept as part of that field. Line breaks outside quotes start a new record.

Methodology and limitations

This browser-only converter parses comma-separated or tab-separated text using quoted-field and doubled-quote rules, maps the first record to object keys, skips empty records, and emits each cell as a JSON string. It rejects blank or repeated exact header names and inconsistent row widths. It does not upload input or infer data types. seodata.dev reported 4,400 average monthly US searches for “csv to json” from Google Ads API data; its report was updated May 13, 2026 and observed November 5, 2026.
